Murf is Awesome!

We just got back from hanging out with Murf. You'll remember she is the Aussie native that Mandy ran into in Italy who booked our trip for us. Anyhow Murf is awesome! I already knew this from emailing her about 100 times back and forth during the planning process, but it was even better meeting her in person.

Sadly, Murf's mom passed away on Oct 2nd, while we were in the air flying over here. They had her funeral yesterday. We are so grateful that Murf still wanted to see us after such a great loss and would have completely understood if she wanted to cancel. We feel as if we were meant to be together today and it was really nice. Her Mom must have been one amazing woman to have such a wonderful daughter.

She showed us all around the Gold Coast in her cool little Suzuki, I think it is the cutest thing ever, little boxy and orange.

We had lunch in the swanky part of the GC, Main Beach. Within 20 feet I spotted a Lambo, Bentley, Aston, and a Ferrari. We showed her the blog and what we'd done so far and just talked about random things and shared lots of laughs. Jen and I really love the Aussie sense of humor, very quick and sarcastic like ours......home sweet home!

After lunch she took us on a road trip around the harbor, we spotted a pink ice cream caravan and couldn't drive by without stopping. We had a Chocolate Dipped Flake, its basically a dip cone with a candy bar sticking out of it. Hello, its brilliant!

From there we drove past the touristy Surfer's Paradise. In its hay-day it was supposed to be the cool spot, now its full of your typical tourist trap places near a KFC or McDonalds, sad!

Murf then took us around her neck of the woods, Burleigh Head. Its a really nice suburb where everyone knows everyone, or at least Murf sure knows everyone. Its the kind of community I dream of living in some day, where everyone looks out for each other.

Murf took us to her house to meet her pup Ollie, a two year old Rottweiler and her twenty year old cat Billy. Ollie was such a sweetheart! Her house was really great, lots of cool plants that smelled so good. We felt really lucky to have been able to spend a day with Murf and look forward to returning the favor someday in Seattle.

It was another great day in Australia. Port Douglas and giant spiders the size of our heads here we come. I still need to get some freaking zinc and nausea medicine for the Great Barrier Reef.

Cheers T&J!

P.S. I forgot to mention our cross street here is Hooker Blvd. Jen is out there now trying to snag a Rugby player.
