Hello, Beautiful, Wish you were here!

Meg Ryan puts it best in the great movie/chick flick French Kiss while she's walking down a street in a gorgeous french countryside village, "Hello. Beautiful. Wish you were here!" That is our exact feeling about Port Douglas. It feels and looks a lot like parts of Maui or Kauai from what we've seen so far, almost feels as if we've been here before, although its way hotter, it was in the mid nineties today.

The main street of Port Douglas is super cute, tree-lined with shops on either side. The place we are staying is smack dab in the middle of town down a slight alley. Its a little hidden paradise. (Awesome job Murf, we love it)

Today we did a whole lot of nothing and it was great! We had lunch, hung out by the pool, and then went for a stroll on Four Mile Beach, which is off the Coral Sea. Jen and Mandy went into the ocean, I stayed back on the beach in the shade, too hot for Trish! Mandy and Jen said it was the warmest water they've ever been in. We then laid out for a bit and a few of us may have fallen asleep. Mandy people watched while J and I snoozed.

So far we highly, highly, highly recommend Port Douglas. We're barbecuing Peri Peri Chicken tonight at our hotel and tomorrow its off to the Great Barrier Reef. I ended up buying a Rashy, which is basically a shirt that protects from UV rays, I'm sure we call it something else at home. Because the water here is very reflective on the reef and I'm uber white we thought it would be a good idea. I bought a UV hat too just to be safe. Being burnt the rest of the trip is not my idea of a good time.

The pics from today are just random beach shots. Check out the cool little spheres the sand crabs make.

That's all for now! -T
P.S. We hit this visit perfectly, in two weeks Port Douglas welcomes stinging jelly fish for the summer, and last week they spotted a salt water croc near the beach. Thanks for keeping us safe Gram.
